History
More than a century of hunting tradition, nature conservation and work by Sarajevo’s sections.
The Sarajevo Hunting Association was founded in 1894 and is among the oldest hunting associations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since its founding, it has brought together hunters from the Sarajevo area, preserving hunting traditions and fostering a responsible relationship with nature, wildlife and the hunting ground.
Today, the association includes regular, honorary and supporting members as well as junior members, organized through the Nahorevo, Hum, Trebević and Crepoljsko sections. These sections cover the wider Sarajevo mountain area where hunting, breeding, conservation and educational activities take place.
Throughout its history, the association has developed organized work in the hunting ground: building and maintaining hunting lodges, feeding sites, watering places, stands and other facilities needed to protect, feed and breed wildlife. Particular attention is paid to habitat conservation and compliance with hunting regulations.
The latest game-management plan for the Bukovik commercial and sporting hunting ground in Sarajevo was prepared in 2026 for the following ten-year period. It guides annual plans, field activities and compliance with current hunting regulations.
Today, the Sarajevo Hunting Association continues a tradition spanning more than a century through the work of its governing bodies, sections and members, with the aim of protecting nature, developing hunting culture and managing wildlife responsibly.
