Sarajevo’s mountain belt as a natural wildlife habitat
The hunting ground spans diverse landscapes around Sarajevo’s mountains, combining forests, clearings, meadows and natural wildlife corridors.
The Sarajevo Hunting Association manages a hunting ground across the wider Sarajevo area through the Nahorevo, Hum, Trebević and Crepoljsko sections. This area forms a natural transition between settled zones and mountain landscapes, with forests, pastures, orchards, streams, clearings and rugged terrain that provide favourable conditions for wildlife.
The hunting ground supports large and small game characteristic of the region, including roe deer, wild boar, brown bear, wolf, jackal, brown hare, red fox, wild ducks, woodcock, beech marten and pine marten. Special attention is paid to habitat conservation, peace within the hunting ground and responsible year-round wildlife care.
Management is planned in line with the game-management plan prepared in 2026 and valid for the following ten years. The plan defines measures for breeding, protection, supplementary feeding, maintenance of hunting facilities and sustainable use of game populations.
Through regular field work, members maintain feeding sites, watering places, stands and access routes, monitor wildlife and take part in nature-conservation activities. The aim is to keep the hunting ground well managed, safe and rich in natural value while observing regulations and hunting ethics.
